Parts of northern Lincoln County remained washed out Tuesday following a long weekend of torrential rainfall there. Water submerged rural roads and neighborhoods in Tea and Harrisburg. The receding rainfall revealed debris and washouts.

“Harrisburg had up to ten or 11 inches of rain through this whole period. And Tea is the same,” Lincoln County Emergency Manager Harrold Timmerman said.

Timmerman said the situation is all too familiar to flash floods of 2010. This time water flooded roads that have never gone under. Most of the damage had already been assessed Tuesday, but officials continued urging caution to any motorists driving county roads.

“If there is an area that hasn’t been marked that they’ve missed or something more has developed, that they be careful,” Timmerman said.

With the potential for another round of wet weather, towns still cleaning up are working on emergency plans to continue weathering their current storm and to deal with the possibility of taking on more water.

“Each city in the northern part of the county has sandbags filled and staged should we need them in a hurry. And we have thousands that can be filled,” Timmerman said.””‘
