“Fire causes smoke, water damage to Vanderbilt mobile home

VANDERBILT — A Sunday evening fire caused smoke and water damage to a unit in Vanderbilt’s Sunshine Mobile Home Park.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, the Vanderbilt-Corwith Fire Rescue Department, Gaylord Fire Department and Otsego County EMS responded to a fire at the park on Old 27 North.

According to Vanderbilt-Corwith Fire Rescue Department Fire Chief David Cadaret, the cause of the fire was electrical in nature and started underneath the unit. The fire was isolated to the exterior of the structure, and smoke and water damage inside was moderate.

No one was injured in the incident.

Cadaret said fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze quickly.

“We had a very good response,” he said. “My personnel did a fantastic job knocking the fire down before it got inside the home.””
